Greenville, SC - Greenville Triumph Soccer Club and Spartanburg United Soccer Academy have joined together in a multi-year partnership that seeks to expand the landscape of youth soccer throughout the Upstate community.

Established in 2016, Spartanburg United is a complete soccer academy for girls and boys under 18 years old. As the founding Greenville Triumph Community Youth Partner, Spartanburg United players and coaches will have access to coaching education experiences with Triumph staff, practice and individualized sessions with Triumph players, and unique Triumph match day experiences.

"This community-based partnership will enable our club to drive interest in the sport and enhance the experience of kids and families who are already involved in the game," said Triumph president Chris Lewis. "We are incredibly excited about partnering with Spartanburg United and are hopeful that this is the first of many community partnerships that we will launch with clubs throughout the Upstate."

Fred Bertha, president of Spartanburg United echoed Lewis's excitement, saying, "Spartanburg United Soccer Academy is honored to be given the opportunity to forge a partnership with the Greenville Triumph. Our clubs share a common commitment to growing the beautiful game of soccer across our communities, making this an easy match to come together."

"As a club, Triumph SC strives to be integrated into the entire Upstate and to live out the mission of bringing joy to members of this community through soccer," said Lewis.

The Greenville Triumph branding was designed specifically to honor the Upstate. From the "T" that stands risen in the shape of a Palmetto tree to the Blue Ridge Mountain range drawn at the bottom, GTSC's crest is a visual reminder of the club's goal to become a community anchor. The clubs' joint partnership has led Spartanburg United to a rebranding of new colors to reflect both Triumph SC’s importance to the community and Spartanburg United’s dedication to growing youth soccer.

"The Triumph are truly committed to becoming the Upstate’s team and have been from their inception with the design of their logo representing the entire area," said Bertha. "We look forward to being able to bring the 'Triumph Way' to Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties for the coming years."
